When JD & I were married over 11 years ago, we both wanted to start a family right away. But after several years, we were told the hard truth that we would never have biological children. JD is a childhood cancer survivor, and went through chemotherapy treatment for almost three years. While we’re so thankful that his life was spared, due to those difficult years in treatment we are unable to have children naturally. Despite the pain of that news, we knew it was all a part of a bigger story. We now have an amazing son through embryo adoption. He was born almost three months early, but after over eight years of waiting, and 45 days in the NICU, we were able to bring our first child home. And now, we can’t imagine our family without him.
Life has taken some unexpected turns for us through the years. At times it has been very difficult and heartbreaking; however, we can now say with complete confidence that we wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s because of these difficult challenges in our lives that we’ve been able to experience our greatest joys, and enjoy a marriage that has only strengthened through our journeys together. We are so excited to now grow our family once again through adoption, and welcome another child into our home.
