Our names are Jason and Lauren, and our adoption journey began over 12 years ago when we were dating. One of the things that we loved about one another is our shared heart for adoption, and we have known from the beginning that we would one day complete our family through adoption. Over the years, we have patiently waited for the right time to pursue adoption, and we are both confident that now is the time. We have two handsome and energetic little boys, ages 6 and 4. We love life with them and the adventure that it brings! I am blessed to stay at home with the boys, and I am thankful for the opportunities each day to see them grow and change as they learn more about the world around them. We live in the mountains of North Carolina and love the opportunities life here provides. From cold mountain rivers in the summer, to apple orchards and pumpkin patches in the fall, we cherish the memories created as we share family time and enjoy life together. However, we know that our family is not quite complete. Our boys have begged us for a baby, and our younger son has even asked us if we could please bring one home before Christmas this year! They are as excited as we are to meet their new sibling!
As we have talked about adoption over the last several years more and more, we have often commented to one another that we feel as though part of our family is missing. With each family vacation and holiday, or even when we are sitting on the porch watching the boys play in the evening, we feel as though we are missing the other child, the one whom we’ve yet to meet. We anxiously await the day when we meet our “missing part.” We cannot wait to share in the joy of watching another child grow and find his/her place in the world.
