Meet Jason & Becky
Jason came from a large family, having 5 siblings. Becky’s friends always said she’d be the one to have the first and most kids. You would think the stars were aligning just right, then, when we met in college through friends. We became great friends and finally started dating a few months before graduating our senior year. When we got married, it felt like we were destined to have a large family. That was our dream.
God had better plans.
A couple years into our marriage, we started trying to get pregnant. It wasn’t quite as easy as our friends had assumed it would be. In the first 18 months, we had two miscarriages – children we’ll have to wait until heaven to meet. We underwent some fertility tests, tried some basic treatments, and received a less than ideal diagnosis, unexplained infertility. We were heartbroken.
But God had bigger, better plans!
In February 2014, we took a Valentine’s stay-cation to the middle of nowhere in Alaska. We were out for a drive near our B&B when the conversation switched to adoption. It had been on both of our hearts yet we had never really discussed it until then. But from there, we were all in.
Less than a year later, we were blessed with Mara. We were there at the hospital with her only a few minutes after her birth, but the love for her had already been in our hearts so many years before that. All the anguish of miscarriages and infertility vanished the moment we laid eyes on her.
In the years since, every day with Mara has been a blessing. Jason continues to serve as the sole pastor at his congregation and enjoys spending time with members and reaching out to others in the community. Becky adores being a stay-at-home mom to Mara as they spend their days painting, creating, imagining, baking, and exploring the outdoors. In her spare time, she enjoys sharing her love of music and her training in education by teaching piano lessons out of our home. Life these days is such a blast, and Mara can’t wait to be a big sister.
But now, here we are, blessed to be on the adoption journey again. It’s a wild and exciting journey, but this is the path we know we are meant to be on. The reason we’ve chosen adoption? Simply, it’s love. We have this fount of love that we’ve been eager to share not only with children that join our family, but also with their birth mothers and their families. Know our prayers are with you as you learn more about us and others.
We look forward to seeing what God has in store for our future.
Love, Jason, Becky, and Mara
